Lincocin Aquadrops

Presentation : A slightly coloured viscous syrup for oral administration. Each 1 ml contains lincomycin (as Lincomycin Hydrochloride BP) 50 mg.

Uses : Antibiotic. Lincocin Aquadrops is indicated in dogs and cats for oral treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive organisms which are sensitive to the action of lincomycin, particularly streptococci and staphylococci. The antibiotic is indicated in the treatment of common upper respiratory tract infections, septicaemia, infections of the skin and adjoining tissues, infected dermatitis, abscesses, infected wounds, tonsillitis, laryngitis and metritis.

|Top| Dosage and administration : Oral: Dogs and cats: 1 ml/2 kg body weight every 12 hours or 1 ml/3 kg every 8 hours.

|Top| Contra-indications, warnings, etc : This antibiotic is not effective against most Gram-negative organisms, Enterococcus faecalis or yeasts. Not recommended for use in animals other than the dog and cat. Loose stools have been observed occasionally in animals on high oral dosage.

Pharmaceutical precautions : Store below 25°C in a dry place.

Further information : Tissue level studies indicate that bile is an important route of excretion. Significant levels of lincomycin have been demonstrated in the majority of body tissues.
